Managing difficult life events
Managing difficult life events.
Raissa Novik’s background in treating individuals with traumatic brain injury opened her eyes to the effects of sudden and often unexpected negative life events. Coping with change can be tough and it is easy to get overwhelmed by emotions and feel stuck with where to go next. Support during stressful life events can make all the difference. She takes a problem solving approach with a focus on finding and implementing solutions. Worry is unproductive, but active problem solving can help you see and carry out the next steps. Our practice is solution focused, as we aim to find practical strategies to improve every day life, even in the face of seemingly unsolvable problems. You may not be able to control certain aspects of the problem in front of you, but you can control your reaction to it and the choices you make next.
